Short description: Unable to attend 28C3? Watch the 28C3 streams from our hackerspace

Attending:

  1. Vicarious

Challenges:

  • There are 3 streams, but we only have 1 large room, 1 projector (beamer) and 2 TV's (and plenty monitors) in our hackerspace.
  • We'll only listen to one stream at a time. Otherwise it will be too hard to follow the lectures, still be able to read/follow the slides from the other lectures.
  • The lectures take place from 11:30 until 02:15, but the building where our hackerspace is located closes at 22:00.

How are we going to solve this?

Proposal 1:

Decide per lecture which lecture we are going to watch and show it on the projector with audio via the hi-fi stereo.

Watch the other streams on the two tv's but with muted audio.

Cons:

  • it's a hassle to switch streams between the devices.

Proposal 2:

Always show the stream from lecture hall (Saal) 1 on the beamer, lecture hall 2 on the LCD TV and lecture hall 3 on the CRT TV. Decide per lecture which stream we are going to watch and mute the other two streams or devices.

Cons:

  • no audio from the other streams.

Does anyone have any better ideas how we can fix this?

One idea would be to find two other rooms and place the TV's there to watch the other streams with audio, but then we would have to keep an eye on and moderate two more rooms.
