|Event: Xbox360 Mod|
|Short description:||Modding the Xbox360 for fun and.....|
I bought an xbox360 from Vicarious. Because I don't want to use my -ahum- original copies I would like to run backups on this console. I have no idea yet what to do but if you have knowledge or would like to help out, feel free to do so.
The drive in the xbox was a DG-16D2S firmware 74850C. Loads of google hits. Most of them showing a tutorial with the executer mod probe kit thingamajig. We didn't have that so we were confident we needed to solder and hook up a ttl to serial conversion.
Although we were very very confident in our soldering skill (owh soldering aah cmon how hard can it be) we almost messed up the xbox by the soldering which wasn't needed. This was due to the very very small space we had to solder and the leadfree solder which didnt adhere to our leaded stuff. Also there was no need to connect the solder platforms , just a single freaking thin wire. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU , a case of RTFM. We knocked of a SMD resistor, but we managed to measure it to be 100 Ohm and made a dirty fix to replace it's function. Also we messed up the solderplatforms so now we have a challenge probing the drive. It can still be done with a small copper wire (I'm talking the width of a single strain of copper wire from a flexible UTP cable) by putting it in the hole near the solderpoint. We only need to attach 1 string to get the key.
We still need a ttl to serial which we are going to use an arduino for it.
